No-back gas purge wire was developed for 300 series stainless steels (i.e., AWS A 5.22, R308LT1-5/ R309LT1-5/ R316LT1-5/ R347LT1-5) in 1990s (or before). But most companies do not like to use these welding electrodes widely due to the potential risk. So the application is very limited, such as for the closing seam of large diameter piping/pipeline.

I do not have the experience for duplex stainless steel (DSS). The DSS welding electrode for no-back gas purge may not be developed yet, but I am not sure.
