WPS에 대한 갱신기간은 없습니다. 한번 사용되었던 WPS는 재사용할 수 있고, 또한 수정해서 사용도 가능합니다. 다만, ASME Code를 기준으로 본다면 그 WPS를 Supporting하는 PQR들이 적절하게 준비가 되어 있어야 한다는 전제조건들이 따릅니다. 참고로, ASME Code에서는 1962년 이후에 ASME Code에 따라서 작성된 PQR들은 현재까지 계속해서 유효하게 사용할 수 있는 것으로 명시하고 있습니다. 도움이 되었기를 바라며, 선급쪽에 대해서는 별도로 알아보시기 바랍니다.

AWS D1.1의 4.2.1항에서 WPS 구 발행본의 적용에 대한 설명이 있습니다. 4.2.1 Qualification to Earlier Editions. Qualifications which were performed to and met the requirements of earlier editions of AWS D1.1 or AWS D1.0 or AWS D2.0 while those editions were in effect are valid and may be used. The use of earlier editions shall be prohibited for new qualifications in lieu of the current editions, unless the specific early edition is specified in the contract documents. ASME Section IX QW-100.3항에서 WPS 구 발행본의 적용에 대한 설명이 있습니다. QW-100.3 Welding Procedure Specifications, Procedure Qualification Records, and Welder/Welding Operator Performance Qualification made in accordance with the requirements of the 1962 Edition or any later Edition of Section IX may be used in any construction built to the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code or the ASME B31 Code for Pressure Piping. Welding Procedure Specifications, Procedure Qualification Records, and Welder/Welding Operator Performance Qualification made in accordance with the requirements of the Editions of Section IX prior to 1962, in which all of the requirements of the 1962 Edition or later Editions are met, may also be used. Welding Procedure Specifications and Welder/Welding Operator Performance Qualification records meeting the above requirements do not need to be amended to include any variables required by later Editions and Addenda except as specified in QW-420. Qualification of new Welding Procedure Specifications or Welders/Welding Operators and requalification of existing Welding Procedure Specifications or Welders/Welding Operators shall be in accordance with the current Edition (see Foreword) and Addenda of Section IX. 선급은 제외하고 결론적으로 말씀드리면, 이 전에 작성된 WPS를 새로운 프로젝트에 사용하기 위해서는 적용 코드의 최신판에 명기된 필수변수/추가필수변수/비필수변수에 대해 비교 검토를 하여 변경 사항이 없으면 이 전 WPS를 그래도 사용하고 변경 사항이 있으면 WPS를 개정하여 사용해야 합니다. 신규로 PQ Test를 하는 경우는 코드의 최신판을 적용해야 합니다.
